Considering the forest fires being reported from various places, the Dehradun district magistrate Sonika has directed the officials of the Forest department to remain alert and active. She directed the departmental officials to ensure swift action on receiving information on forest fires so that the fire can be prevented from going out of control. The district magistrate directed the officials to ensure that the teams formed area-wise for controlling forest fires are active. Information should be shared on time so that the fires can be controlled without delay. Sonika also directed the district disaster management officer that swift action should be taken in coordination with officials concerned as soon as information on any forest fire is received in the control room. The DM also directed the Revenue department officials to ensure that the department is prepared with its resources to tackle forest fires. Further, strict action should be taken as per the rules against those found guilty of setting the forests on fire, she said.
