He informed that Jagdev Singh registered a complaint on Wednesday stating that a man Avesh Ansari (20) who worked in his shop had strangled his mother to death with the help of two other persons when she was sleeping in the courtyard of their house. The police team conducted a search for the arrest of the accused, activated the local informer system and raided their possible locations. Following these efforts, the police arrested three accused of the murder from the bus stand at Basedi village of Laksar in Haridwar district late on Wednesday. The accused were identified as Avesh Ansari (20), Sonu (18) and Rahul (18) who told the police during interrogation that the deceased’s daughter-in-law Jyoti alias Dimpy (24) had paid them Rs one lakh to kill Kaur. The SSP said that the police arrested Jyoti from her residence and added section 120 B of the Indian Penal Code in the case. According to the accused Ansari, he has been working in Jyoti’s husband’s shop as a mechanic for the past seven months. He claimed that he considered Jyoti as a sister whose mother-in-law used to often harass and torture her.
