Model Champawat to show way for model State U’khand: CM

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that Chamapat is being developed as a model district in the endeavour of making Uttarakhand a model State. He reviewed the work plan and projects underway to make Champawat, a model district at the State secretariat on Thursday.

 He said that all the geographical features of Terai, plains, Bhabhar and mountains are present in Champawat district. In the meeting the CM directed that coordination between ecology and development should be made in all the projects. He said that projects should be completed in a time bound manner and it should be ensured that the results of efforts are reflected on ground. The CM added that nodal officers for Model Champawat plan should hold regular meetings with district level officers. He said that suggestions from local people should also be sought in the projects.

 The CM opined that Champawat holds immense potential in the field of religious, spiritual and adventure tourism. He said that circuits should be developed in  the district for a three to four days stay of pilgrims and tourists in Champawat. Dhami said that in view of the surge in the number of pilgrims in Purnagiri temple, facilities should be developed.

The CM also stressed on the need for extension of Sharda corridor and ISBT in Champawat.

The officials informed the CM that work on an elaborate plan to encourage tourism, agriculture, horticulture, healthcare, education and milk products is underway in the district. Work on short, medium and long term plans in the district is going on.  Work on promoting adventure tourism, destination wedding, Kiwi production and milk production is underway in the district.

The district magistrate of Champawat Navneet Pandey said that special emphasis is being made to ensure that the benefit of social welfare schemes of the union and State government reaches to every eligible person in the district. He said that in view of increasing migration from rural areas to the city, special focus on town planning is being made.

 The chief secretary Radha Raturi, Additional chief secretary Anand Bardhan and other senior officers of State administration attended the meeting.
