Accusing the Congress party for misleading people on Libberhedi violence, the BJP said that the party made an unsuccessful attempt to put the blame of an internal skirmish on BJP. A delegation of State BJP met the chief electoral officer (CEO) Uttarakhand, BVRC Purushottam and submitted a memorandum on the issue. The party accused the Congress party for spreading rumours in order to affect the polling.
The president of State BJP Mahendra Bhatt said that an attempt was made to disturb peace in Manglaur by workers from outside the assembly. He claimed that the BJP candidates will register victories with record margin from both Badrinath and Manglaur. He expressed gratitude to the people for peaceful conduction of polling in Manglaur and Badrinath. Bhatt said that the voters of both the constituencies gave a fitting reply to the attempts of the Congress party to spread lies and confusion.
Bhatt said that the victory of BJP candidate Rajendra Bhandari in Badrinath was certain from the beginning but the party is going to win Manglaur assembly for the first time and create history.
Haridwar police & district administration refute firing claim
DEHRADUN: The Haridwar police and the district administration refuted all claims of firing at Libberhedi village in Manglaur assembly constituency during voting for the bypoll on Wednesday. Several videos and posts were making rounds in social media since morning in which some men belonging to the minority community appeared injured with blood on their clothes. They were allegedly being sent back from a polling booth in the village after some people severely beat them. Some police personnel could also be seen in some videos. More videos started surfacing online claiming that some people fired at the men to stop them from voting. Responding to such claims, the Haridwar senior superintendent of police Pramendra Dobhal said that several false narratives were being spread on social media claiming firing happened in Manglaur against the people belonging to the minority community. He stated that a heated argument and scuffle happened between two groups regarding voting outside booth number 53/54 in the Libberhedi village in which some sustained injuries. They were sent to hospital for treatment but no firing happened during this dispute. The SSP claimed the voting continued in the polling booth peacefully amid full security. “Some people were spreading false propaganda about the incident to gain advantage in the elections. Please do not pay attention to such fake news. The police will investigate the matter and take further action accordingly,” he said.
