Arya, Godiyal visit disaster affected Sonprayag- Gaurikund area

The Leader of Opposition (LoP) in State assembly Yashpal Arya and former Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Ganesh Godiyal visited the disaster affected areas between Sonprayag and Gaurikund near Kedarnath Dham on Thursday. They were accompanied by former MP Pradeep Tamta and former MLA of Kedarnath Manoj Rawat.
Arya claimed that about 2,500 pilgrims are stranded between Sonprayag and Gaurikund. He said that apart from the personnel of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) no one from the State administration was visible on ground. Arya said that the administration should expedite the relief and rescue operation. He said that the administration has made no arrangements of food and medicines for the stranded pilgrims.
Former PCC president Ganesh Godiyal said that the bridle path between Sonprayag and Gaurikund has been blocked at nine places due to massive landslides triggered by rain on Wednesday. He said that the administration should make necessary arrangements for the people stranded at many places between Sonprayag and Gaurikund. Former MLA Manoj Rawat said that the intensity of the disaster is similar to the disaster of 2013 and the administration is hiding the death toll.
The Congress leaders also distributed food to the pilgrims. The Congress leaders said that the Taxi unions, Vyapar Sangh and local people are also helping the stranded pilgrims.
