PGI Chandigarh officials check air ambulance at AIIMS Rishikesh

The helicopter ambulance medical service will be formally inaugurated at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh after a fortnight. This service is expected to become an example for other major government medical centres across the nation. A team of officials from PGI Chandigarh visited AIIMS Rishikesh to learn about this technology based service.
The air ambulance is nothing short of a boon for patients in the Himalayan State of Uttarakhand. Recently, a team of officials from PGI Chandigarh visited AIIMS Rishikesh to learn about the technical, operational and other aspects of this service. The institute’s deputy director (Administration) Amit Parashar informed PGI Chandigarh deputy director Pankaj Rai about the helicopter ambulance service. Officials of both the institutions discussed the subject in detail. The in-charge of the service and trauma surgeon at AIIMS Rishikesh, Dr Madhur Uniyal informed about the structure, communication system, operation and other aspects of this service.
It should be mentioned here that Union Health minister JP Nadda is slated to formally inaugurate the helicopter ambulance at AIIMS here on September 20. Earlier, the trial of the air ambulance was successfully conducted on March 6. Parashar informed that the institute has started preparing for the formal launch of the service.
