The Forest Research Institute (FRI) will remain closed to visitors from October 2 to 6 due to frequent sightings of a leopard on campus. According to the FRI officials, a leopard has been sighted regularly since September 15 in different parts of the campus. Considering the movement of the leopard during the daytime, the institute authorities have decided to close the campus to visitors for five days to prevent any untoward incident. The activity of the leopard has increased near the main building and other parts of the FRI campus. The big cat has so far preyed on dogs and deer on the campus. Considering this, the authorities have closed the campus to visitors for their own safety. It is pertinent to mention here that the FRI campus is known to attract leopards due to the dense vegetation which provides shelter and other animals which the big cats prey on.
