NIEPVD celebrates International Day of Persons with Disabilities

The National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities (NIEPVD) organised a cultural programme here on Tuesday to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The visually impaired students of the institute’s Model School presented devotional and patriotic songs.  The regional head, HUDCO Akash Tyagi was present as the chief guest.  While addressing it,   the officiating director of the institute Amit Sharma said that the persons with disabilities are a source of inspiration for society and reiterated NIEPVD’s commitment to fostering their empowerment and self-reliance.  

The event featured diverse cultural performances showcasing the exceptional talents of visually impaired students. The students of the departments of Special Education and Research as well as Clinical Rehabilitation and Psychology and Vocational Training Centres presented Garhwali and Rajasthani folk dances as well as Uttarakhand’s folk songs.
