Drug peddler from UP injured in police encounter

In latest news from Uttarakhand, a drug peddler was injured during a police encounter at Subhasgarh within Pathri police station limits. Informing this, the SSP Haridwar Pramendra Singh Dobhal said that when the police team on a checking drive had signalled a white car to stop the two criminals seated inside opened fire on them. They got off the car and ran towards the forest. Police chased them. They again opened fire on police and police retaliated. One of them was injured in the leg. He was sent to a hospital. The other fled. The injured was identified as Bittu from Deoband, Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. Police recovered more than 900 narcotic pills, a firearm and several spent and live cartridges from him. They are now on the lookout for the absconding drug smuggler, a police officer privy to the operation said.
