Uttarakhand’s entrepreneurship development plan for students’ best in country: EDII DG

 The director general of Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad, Sunil Sukla has said that Devbhoomi Udhyamita Yojana (DUY), started by the Uttarakhand government, is the best initiative in the country to encourage entrepreneurship among the students. Addressing a press conference here on Monday, he said that in the last one year 370 students of the State have converted their dream of starting a venture into reality.

The nodal officer of the DUY and assistant director higher education Deepak Pandey informed that a two day ‘Mega start-up summit’ will be organised at Doon University on Tuesday and Wednesday. The summit will be inaugurated by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. 

 Pandey said that the DUY was started last year in Uttarakhand to encourage entrepreneurship ecosystem and start-up culture in the universities, university campuses and colleges as per the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020. He

Said that as per the memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the EDII, Ahmedabad 21266 students of the State have registered themselves on the official portal. Under the scheme seven students have applied for patents out of which one has already been registered. Under the scheme the EDII has trained 185 faculty members of higher education institutes as mentors. Pandey added that 124 Devbhoomi Udyamita centres have been set up in the State. He said that 10 higher education institutes of the State have been given status of centres of excellence to provide necessary guidance and help to the local youngsters.

 The deputy secretary higher education Vyomkesh Dubey was also present on the occasion.
