The construction of pink and general toilets will commence at seven main locations in Dehradun by the end of this month. The State administration has approved Rs 1.6 crore for this project. The initiative aims to provide better sanitation facilities in public spaces, ensuring convenience for commuters and local residents, especially for women, the Dehradun district magistrate Savin Bansal said. Bansal informed that he recently conducted inspections along with senior police officials and other authorities concerned via motorcycle across key areas of the city.
The inspection was aimed at assessing infrastructure and identifying locations where new toilet facilities were required. Following this survey, the administration selected sites for pink and general toilets in busy market areas and other prominent locations, Bansal said. He informed that the State government has approved the proposal, allocating funds for the construction of these facilities at Paltan Bazaar and other areas in Dehradun.
The selected locations for these pink toilet facilities include space near Ramesh Book Depot, Dispensary Road parking and near Rajiv Gandhi Complex. Besides this, a public toilet will also be constructed in Tehsil Chowk parking and under the Ballupur Chowk flyover. Two urinals will also be installed in Raja Road and near Gaylord. Bansal said that the construction will begin soon this month and the work will be carried out on priority basis.
