Anganwadi workers seek pending allowance from CM

The president of the Anganwadi Workers Association, Rekha Negi claimed that Anganwadi workers have not received their monthly allowance since December 2024. They have written a letter to chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, urging the immediate release of their salaries.
Negi said that Anganwadi workers have continually sent demand letters regarding their difficulties, yet the government has not taken any action. While the government is pressing for improvements in Anganwadi operations, it has failed to provide the honorarium that workers rely on. In these challenging circumstances, many Anganwadi workers are struggling to manage their households.
She further said that without funds, workers are unable to recharge their mobile phones. The department’s mounting pressure is pushing some Anganwadi workers to the brink of despair. Negi highlighted that these workers implement various child development and women empowerment schemes, yet the government cannot even pay them their honorarium. This situation is a significant shame for the government, she said.
She further added that even during a festive occasion like Holi, Anganwadi workers return home empty-handed. Negi has appealed to the government to release their monthly allowance immediately so that they can celebrate Holi joyfully. She warned that if their festival remains bleak, they may be forced to take to the streets in protest.
