Eyeing cabinet berths, some BJP MLAs camping in Delhi

PIONEER NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun
With speculations on the imminent expansion and reshuffle of the Pushkar Singh Dhami Cabinet having gained further momentum in the aftermath of the exit of the senior minister Premchand Aggarwal, some MLAs, particularly young ones with clean images and long organisational and legislative experiences, are learnt to be camping in Delhi to stake their claims. Though the State BJP brass remains tight-lipped several names are doing the rounds in the political corridors for possible entry into the expanded Cabinet. Among the leaders who may find berths are the veterans like Madan Kaushik from Haridwar and Vinod Chamoli from Dehradun. Some young leaders are learnt to be lobbying for Cabinet berths through their political mentors while staying put in the national capital. Observers say that the party’s young horns may possibly enter the Cabinet, given the fact that the CM himself is a young leader known to have liking for them. “However, the expansion may not be easy for the saffron brass in view of the fact that regional and caste faultlines must be taken into consideration. Otherwise, it may fuel discontent within the ranks. This is why the party high command is taking time, weighing the pros and cons before zeroing on the names,” a long-time political observer said.
