UPCL reports consistent decrease in AT & C losses

 The Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) has claimed that its Aggregate Technical and Commercial (AT & C) losses have reduced substantially in the last few years.

The data of the corporation show that the AT&C losses were 17.79 per cent in the financial year 2020-21 which reduced to 15.75 per cent in 2021-22, 15.25 per cent in 2022-23, 14.64 per cent in 2023-24 and  14.55 per cent in 2024-25. 

The managing director of UPCL, Anil Kumar Yadav said that the continuous reduction in AT & C losses will help the corporation in providing better services to its consumers.  He said that in the last few years, the power demand in the State has increased by about 10 per cent.  In such a scenario, the UPCL has taken important measures to set up a robust power distribution system.

The corporation has installed more than 90,000 distribution converters on its feeders and smart meters are being installed on 2602 feeders which will help in improving energy accountancy. 

Yadav added that advanced metering infrastructure service provider (AMISP) and loss reduction project is currently underway under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) of government of India and reducing AT & C losses is part of the project.
