DM, Tehri inaugurates 23rd school autumn sports competition

The district magistrate, Tehri, Nitika Khandelwal inaugurated the 23rd annual school autumn sports competition held at Bourari Stadium, New Tehri. Also, she administered the oath to the players who had come from various blocks of the district.

She said that in keeping with the chief minister’s priorities in the field of education, the district administration has started providing free online coaching in Physics to meritorious students for JEE-NEET preparation. “A total of 172 students are benefiting from this,” she added.  

On this occasion, the president, municipal council, Tehri, Mohan Singh Rawat was present as a special guest. He urged the district administration to provide kabaddi mats and build a badminton court in the stadium.

The block head of Jakhnidhar, Rajesh Nautiyal said that the State government has been implementing several schemes to promote sports and providing numerous platforms to nurture athletic talent at the village panchayat level. “With access to sports facilities, children in rural areas are getting the opportunity to pursue a career in sports,” he added.
