The young woman, who had earlier sparked a controversy through posting a video on social media highlighting her distress over the treatment she received at Deen Dayal Upadhyay District Hospital, has posted another video alleging that she had received a defective wheelchair. Both videos have gone viral, triggering concerns about the facilities provided by the hospital administration. Responding to her latest video, the hospital administration denied her allegation outright, claiming that a properly functioning wheelchair had been provided to her.
Notably, the controversy began when the said woman posted a video on social media for the first time a few days ago, stating she received an old, defective wheelchair during her visit to the hospital after being struck by a car. She had expressed dissatisfaction with the hospital facilities, specifically the wheelchair. Consequently, after this recently another video of the same woman once again got viral in which she explained that she revisited the hospital emergency for plaster removal and claimed to have once again received a defective wheelchair, sparking concern and outrage online.
Queried on the recent video allegation, the principal medical superintendent at the hospital, Dr Manu Jain said dismissively that contrary to her allegation, she had been provided with a properly functioning wheelchair when she had revisited the facility for plaster removal.
“The hospital has approximately 30 to 35 wheelchairs available. Further, six new wheelchairs have recently been added to the Emergency department and four old ones have been repaired,” he said. He added that following the allegation, the hospital administration had conducted an inspection of all the wheelchairs kept in the wards and gathered feedback from patients regarding any issues they may have experienced. “The allegation is false,” he said.
