In preparation for the Ardh Kumbh slated in Haridwar next year, the Mela administration has started a beautification drive in the city. As part of this campaign, the Mela officer Sonika visited several areas on foot on Friday to review the preparations and progress of the mela-specific works.
During the visit, she directed the officials from the departments concerned to complete all these works by the timeline fixed by the administration. She laid particular emphasis on works related to accessibility, cleanliness and safety in the Kumbh Mela area, along with the beautification works. “These are our top priority,” she said. She also spoke with traders and other stakeholders and sought their suggestions.
During this, she interacted with the devotees, too, who had come to Haridwar from across the country for the Buddha Purnima Snan. She invited them to the upcoming Kumbh Mela and took feedback regarding the arrangements.
The Mela officer also visited Tulsi Chowk, railway station, Upper Road and Har Ki Paudi to review the preparations. She stated that the internal roads of this area would also be improved as part of the Kumbh Mela work.
Speaking to Vyapar Mandal representatives, she said that everyone must work together to keep the Kumbh city clean and beautiful. Along with beautification in areas with high footfall of devotees, the facades of buildings would also be improved, Sonika said.
She further inspected the Mansa Devi path and the shrine complex and said that this temple complex would also be beautified. “Haridwar’s heritage routes and the Amrit Snan routes are being specially developed for the Kumbh Mela,” she added.
