Monsoon challenge: Minister directs departments to accelerate Kumbh 2027 works

The Urban Development minister Ram Singh Kaida has said in view of the ensuing Monsoon season the construction and other works underway for Kumbh Mela-2027 should be accelerated. He said that all departments should prepare action plans keeping in mind the weather-related challenges and ensure that there is no delay in construction work.
The minister gave the order while taking a meeting with the officers of different departments in Haridwar on Monday. The meeting was held to review the preparations of Kumbh 2027.
In the meeting, the minister reviewed department-wise the preparations related to the proposed infrastructure development works for the Kumbh Mela, projects under construction, traffic management, parking, strengthening of Ghats, cleanliness, drinking water, lighting and convenience and safety of the devotees.
Kaida said that the Kumbh Mela- 2027 is among the State government’s top priorities and that every related task must be completed within the stipulated time frame, with complete quality and transparency. He added that any negligence or laxity in the work will not be tolerated. If any shortcomings in quality or irregularities are found, the concerned officer will be held accountable and strict action will be taken, he warned.
He said that under the leadership of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the State government is continuously working to establish the Kumbh- 2027 in Haridwar as a historic event. He said that all the departments should work in coordination with each other and ensure that devotees do not face any inconvenience.
Kaida said that the Kumbh Mela is not just a religious event, but also a symbol of Uttarakhand’s cultural identity and administrative capabilities.
He said that the quality of construction work and facilities associated with the Mela should be such that they will be able to benefit the local population and pilgrims visiting Haridwar in the future. Kaida directed officials to implement plans with long-term utility in mind.
He said that all works related to Kumbh will be regularly monitored and he himself will regularly review the progress of the works and will also conduct on-site inspections of the schemes.
The Mela officer Sonika said that continuous monitoring and review of the work is being done to ensure that all tasks are completed within the stipulated time frame with utmost quality.
