District Hospital’s apathy: Health dept seeks explanation

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun
The Health department has sought an explanation from the principal medical superintendent of Deen Dayal Upadhyay District Hospital, Dr Manu Jain regarding an elderly destitute allegedly being refused treatment at the hospital. Notably, The Pioneer in its edition on May 30 had highlighted the apathy of the district hospital after the PMS of the hospital told The Pioneer that no such patient had arrived in the emergency ward.
Commenting on the matter, Dehradun chief medical officer, Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma said that the department has taken note of the incident and sought explanation from the district hospital authorities. He further stated that he has written to the PMS of the district hospital, asking for the Action Taken Report (ATR) on the issue. He, however, added that he has not yet received an answer or report from the PMS. He assured that as soon as the report is received, appropriate direction and action would be taken.
The CMO said all the hospitals in the district have been directed to provide better services and show empathy towards the patients.
