The Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB) on Wednesday suspended Dehradun district tourism development officer (DTDO) Brijendra Pandey, pending departmental disciplinary proceedings against him.
As per the suspension order issued on June 30, Pandey faces allegations of financial irregularities relating to the disbursement of subsidy funds under the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Homestay Yojana while he was posted in Dehradun. The action follows a video that went viral online, which purportedly pointed to prima facie evidence of corruption in the release of subsidy amounts under the scheme.
Taking cognisance of the matter, the board ordered his suspension and directed Narendra Singh Bhandari, the additional chief executive officer of the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board, to conduct a formal inquiry into the allegations. Bhandari has been asked to proceed with the investigation as per applicable rules and initiate further necessary action based on its findings.
Pandey has been directed to remain attached to the board’s headquarters in Dehradun for the duration of his suspension. The order has been signed by the chief executive officer of Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board, Dheeraj Singh Garbyal.
