Man promised job in New Zealand alleges Rs 6 lakh fraud

A resident of Dehradun has filed a complaint at Rajpur police station alleging that he was cheated of Rs six lakh on the false promise of getting his younger brother a job in New Zealand. The complainant Arjun Nautiyal, a resident of Brahmpuri in Sahastradhara area claimed that the accused took the money for arranging a work visa and employment but neither provided the job nor returned the amount.
According to the complaint, Nautiyal works at a guest house in Dehradun, where he came in contact with Hitanshu Gupta, his wife Shailja Singh and her father Rajendra Singh, who stayed there for several months. During their stay, Gupta allegedly claimed that he owned a hotel in New Zealand and was looking to recruit staff. Trusting his words, Nautiyal paid Rs six lakh to arrange a work visa and job for his younger brother Amit Nautiyal.
He alleged that Gupta promised that the job would be arranged within three months. However, after several months passed, the accused allegedly kept delaying the process by making excuses through WhatsApp messages. Later, he reportedly promised to refund the money but failed to do so. The complainant said the accused eventually stopped answering phone calls and became unreachable. The complaint also states that an advocate known to Nautiyal contacted the accused through WhatsApp, he had assured that the money would be returned within a week. The Rajpur police have registered the complaint and started an investigation in the case
