Congress demands SC monitored probe in Ram Mandir offerings theft case

Questioning the silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issue of theft of offerings at Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary (Organisation) KC Venugopal has demanded that a Supreme Court monitored high level investigation should be ordered in the case involving the faith of crores of people. Addressing the media at the Rajiv Bhawan here on Friday, he said that the Congress will raise the issue of donation theft forcefully during the upcoming monsoon session of parliament. He said that the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust was created by PM Modi and he owes moral responsibility for the theft in offerings at Ram Mandir. Venugopal said that the irregularities in Central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE) and NEET- UG examination paper leak has made the students dejected. He said that the Congress stands with the students and will fight for their interests. Venugopal said that the leader of opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi will visit Dehradun on July 17 to express solidarity with students and unemployed.
Venugopal claimed that Congress in Uttarakhand is united and ready to contest the upcoming Vidhan Sabha elections with its full might. He said that during the past two days he has met senior leaders, heads of district Congress committees, Political Advisory Committee members, sitting and former MLAs, the heads of frontal organisations and party workers. Venugopal said that the people of Uttarakhand are fed up with the 10-year misrule of the BJP and want a change. Terming unemployment as the biggest issue in the State, Venugopal said that the BJP government has done nothing to address the issue in the past 10 years. He said that large scale unemployment is also triggering migration from the mountainous areas of the State. He said that the problem of unemployment has been compounded by a series of paper leaks in the State.
Venugopal alleged that corruption is rampant in the State and the chief minister is protecting the corrupt. He said that the Congress will take views of all sections of the society to prepare its election manifesto for the Vidhan Sabha elections. The Congress State in-charge Kumari Selja claimed that the State BJP is suffering from internal dissensions. She said that the incident of theft in donations at Badrinath Dham has hurt the sentiments of Sanatanis and said that the double-engine government has mastered the art of theft of donations.
The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Ganesh Godiyal, the leader of opposition in Vidhan Sabha Yashpal Arya, head of election campaign committee Pritam Singh, chairman of the election management committee Harak Singh Rawat and others were present on the occasion.
