ISKCON Dehradun will celebrate Krishna Janmashtami at its Mothrowala temple with a string of religious and cultural programmes, including special flower decorations, Krishna katha, devotional performances and a midnight birth maha aarti.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, the organiser Nitish Bhardwaj said that the celebrations would begin with Mangal Aarti and Tulsi Puja, followed by Guru Puja, japa meditation and a special Shrimad Bhagavatam katha on Krishna’s birth. “Throughout the day, devotees will witness bhajan, harinam sankirtan, cultural performances by artists from India and abroad and tableaux depicting the life of Lord Krishna,” Bhardwaj said.

He further said that 1,008 varieties of bhog would be offered to Lord Krishna at night. “The celebrations will conclude with Maha Mangal Sankirtan and midnight Shri Krishna Janma Maha Aarti, followed by prasad distribution. Prasad will also be available for devotees throughout the day,” he stated.

He added that to manage the expected rush, five parking sites have been set up near the temple. “Free e-rickshaw services will ferry devotees between the parking areas and the temple. Volunteers will be deployed at various points to assist devotees and manage arrangements. The temple management is inviting devotees from Dehradun to participate in the celebrations with their families,” he said.
