24 new swine flu cases reported in Dehradun; total reaches 432

Dehradun district reported 24 new cases of swine flu (influenza H1N1) on Friday, bringing the total number of cases to 432. Dehradun chief medical officer Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma said that out of these 432 cases, 288 are from Dehradun district, while the remaining 144 cases are from other States and districts.

Of the 24 new cases reported on Friday, 19 are from Dehradun and five are from other states and districts. Following a recent death audit, two fatalities associated with swine flu have been confirmed, he said.

 Sharma stated that there are currently 86 active cases. Of these, 55 patients are  at Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, 16 at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rishikesh, seven at Himalayan Hospital, four at Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) Hospital, two at Graphic Era Hospital and two at Kailash Hospital.

Among the total of 432 cases, 234 patients are male and 198 are female. The age distribution reveals that the highest number of cases, 73, is in the 61-70 years age group, followed by 71 cases in the 1-10 years age group and 70 cases in the 51-60 years age group.
