A Dubai based company has sent a proposal to the Uttarakhand government claiming that the incidences of cloud burst and forest fires can be controlled
Facing flak for his statement, the videos of which have gone viral, the health, higher education, cooperatives and disaster management minister Dhan Singh Rawat has clarified that he intended to mention about the cloud shifting technology and the word App inadvertently was uttered by him in this context. He said that a Dubai based company Magnetic Technologies LLC has sent a proposal to the Uttarakhand government claiming that the incidences of cloud burst and forest fires can be controlled.
The state administration has set up a committee headed by the Director of Uttarakhand Space Application Centre (USAC) to study the proposal. The director meteorological centre, Dehradun, the scientist ‘E’ Atmospheric Sciences group, ARIES, nominee of Head of forests, department of forests and subject specialist Uttarakhand state disaster management authority would be the members of the committee.
The minister said that in view of the hypersensitivity of the state for the disaster the state government is setting up a weather Radar system in different parts of the state so that correct information about excess rainfall is obtained. He added that an App is being developed which will use the emergency early warning system for the general public.
It is pertinent to mention here that a statement of Rawat in which he is mentioning about an App which can shift the rains. The minister added that he will make a presentation to the government of India and if it gives its approval, then it would be good for many states.
The statement of the minister invited an all round ridicule. The former chief minister Harish Rawat sarcastically commented that the minister is going to make a presentation which will remove the vagaries of the weather and solve the problems of excess and deficient rainfall faced by the farmers. Harish Rawat also recommended that the minister should be awarded Bharat Ratna for the unique feat.
