USWC chairperson Vijaya Barthwal’s three-year tenure ends

The three-year tenure of the chairperson of the Uttarakhand State Women Commission (USWC), Vijay Barthwal ended on Monday. She held a board meeting on her last day in the office and discussed the work done during her time in the commission. She also directed the board members to regularly organise awareness camps in their respective districts for women besides conducting regular inspections in women hostels, Nari Niketan and rehabilitation centres. The board also discussed the proposal of pre-marriage counseling for women in rural areas.
Barthwal also informed that the commission received over 5,000 complaints in the past three years most of which have been disposed of in time. A farewell was also held by the board members for Barthwal after the meeting. The vice chairperson of the commission, Shayara Bano and member secretary Kamini Gupta were also present among other staff members.
