The Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi successfully established an emotional connect with the women of the state during her visit on Wednesday. In her address she took up the issue of women empowerment and said that the promise of providing a cooking gas cylinder at Rs 500 is the right of the women of state. Her ‘Ladki hun lad sakti hun’ war cry drew huge response from the women workers of the party who were present in the programme and those connected virtually in all 70 assembly constituencies of the state.
Apart from assuring that the cooking gas subsidy would be transferred in the bank account of women, the Congress party in its manifesto claimed that it would provide 40 per cent of government jobs to women. Similarly it said that women would be provided free transport in the buses of the roadways and the remuneration of the Asha and Anganwadi workers would be increased by 1.5 times.
