Heritage walk & music enthrall on third day of Virasat

Heritage walks and musical performances marked the third day of Virasat on Sunday. The day began with the colonial and Afghan links heritage walk. It is a five-kilometre trail through the city centre that includes stops at Astley Hall, Clock Tower, St Francis Church and Rangers College. The evening saw the audience enjoyed the the jugalbandi performance by violinist Santosh Kumar Nahar and Shehnai player Baba Bhaskar Nath. They were accompanied by Shubh Maharaj on Tabla and Yogesh Khetwal on Swaramandal. This performance was followed by a presentation by the Wadali Brothers. The gathering particularly appreciated the rendition of ‘Tujhe takeya toh laga mujhe aisa jaise meri Eid hogayi’.
Meanwhile, Poushtik Gramodyog Sanstha, an NGO that promotes women’s empowerment, has also put up a stall in Virasat. Visitors to the festival venue at Ambedkar stadium could be seen visiting the stall and purchasing various products made by the group.
