City bus union wants the minister to take cognisance of its issues
Tuesday, 19 April | PNS | Dehradun
Stating that the condition of city bus operators is pathetic in Dehradun, the representatives of the city bus union met the transport minister Chandan Ram Das and requested him to take cognisance of their issues. They said that out of about 319 registered city buses in Dehradun, only half of them are currently running across the city. They said that since the prices of diesel and spare parts of buses have increased in the past few months, the department should also increase the fare of the city buses to provide relief to them. They also demanded to restore the previous surrender policy of vehicles for the welfare of transport operators. The Union asked the minister to direct the department to open the proposed fitness centre for vehicles within Dehradun city instead of Doiwala block as it is quite far for all the operators that operate within the city and will cost them extra to visit there on a regular basis. The union members also appealed to the minister to take action against illegal operation of Vikrams, autorickshaws and electric rickshaws that has severely affected the operation of city buses across the city. They asked the minister to waive the penalty which is being imposed along with the taxes on the transport operators till March 31, 2022. The members said that the minister has promised them to look into the matter. The members of the city bus union Manmohan Bisht, Gaurav Gupta, Anuj Goyal and Sachin Rawat among others were present in the meeting with the minister.
