The doctors of the Himalayan Hospital here have claimed to have performed a complex minimally invasive surgery to save the life of a 35 year old patient. The patient had been bleeding from the mouth for the last one month.

The Intervention Radiologist in Himalayan Hospital, Dr Vinayak Jedhe said that due to incessant bleeding, the patient had severely reduced Haemoglobin ( 5 Gm/dl ) and reduced Blood pressure (BP). He said that it was decided to perform Plug Assisted Retrograde Transvenous Obliteration (PARTO) of Gastric Varices on the patient. He explained that such patients usually have underlying liver cirrhosis in which the entire PARTO procedure can be done through a two mm hole, which consists of obliterating abnormal vessels around the stomach without any cuts or stitches.

Post procedure medical treatment was given to the patient by the medical team of Dr Saurabh Singh, Dr Pawit, Dr Naina and Dr Chandan and the patient was successfully discharged after one week in stable condition.
