In the murder of the gangster Vikram Sharma, Dehradun police brought the accused Rajkumar Singh alias Raju and one another associate of his from Gadabasa under the jurisdiction of Bagbeda police station in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand on Sunday. Police said that they are close to solving the murder case.
According to police sources, accused Rajkumar Singh and his associate have been brought to Dehradun. The police will soon produce them before the court. Singh’s name surfaced during the investigation after it was revealed that the payment for the motorcycle used by the shooters in Haridwar was made from his bank account. On the basis of this link, police had considered him an accused and had taken him into custody, police said. “We produced him in local court in Jamshedpur and sought transit remand. Later, he was handed over to Dehradun Police on transit remand,” said a police officer.
Police sources revealed that Rajkumar Singh’s son, Yashraj Singh, has emerged as the main suspect in the case. Investigators believe that Yashraj played a crucial role by supplying weapons to the shooters involved in the murder.
Despite repeated attempts by the police to trace him, Yashraj has reportedly remained absconding. In a bid to tighten the net around him, the STF detained his father for questioning.
Sharma was shot dead on February 13 near Silver City Mall in Dehradun. Though Sharma was a resident of Bazpur in Udham Singh Nagar district he was allegedly also carrying on his criminal activities in Jamshedpur.
