To strengthen fire disaster preparedness and enhance emergency response capabilities, the Army, in collaboration with NTPC Tapovan, conducted a comprehensive joint fire disaster management mock drill under the Mutual Aid Scheme at the NTPC Tapovan township on Friday.
A simulated fire incident was created, during which rescue, evacuation, firefighting, medical assistance and disaster response procedures were carried out in real-time.
The mock drill witnessed the active participation of 212 officers and personnel from various units of the Indian Army and several teams from NTPC Tapovan. In addition, personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Uttarakhand Health department and Uttarakhand Fire and Emergency Services actively participated.
Following the pre-defined emergency response plan, all participating teams demonstrated prompt action and efficient coordination in carrying out rescue and relief operations.
Senior officers of the Indian Army supervised the mock drill and provided operational guidance, ensuring seamless coordination among all participating agencies and departments.
The exercise highlighted the critical importance of inter-agency coordination, swift decision-making and collective action in effectively managing disaster situations, NTPC Tapovan sources said. It also reinforced the need for regular mock drills to enhance the preparedness, confidence and operational efficiency of personnel in responding to emergencies.
Senior Army officials emphasised the importance of conducting such joint exercises on a regular basis to further strengthen disaster preparedness and ensure the highest standards of public safety and emergency management.
