Authorities to tackle DAC issues to resolve delay in cooking gas delivery

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE /Dehradun
Consumers are facing issues in getting cooking gas cylinders as technical issues are creating trouble in the delivery process. Even after booking gas cylinders, many people claim that they are not receiving the Delivery Authentication Codem (DAC) on their registered mobile numbers. Without this code, delivery workers are refusing to hand over the cylinders. As a result, consumers are left waiting, despite completing their bookings on time.
According to district supply officer KK Aggarwal, the issue is now being resolved and the DAC is usually sent by the gas agency before delivery. He said that the gas supply system has improved compared to earlier and cylinders are reaching people. However, there is still a backlog in delivery. In some areas, the delay is around three days, while in others it can go up to five or six days, depending on the agency.
Consumers from both urban and rural areas say that they are struggling due to this technical fault. Many claim that even after waiting for several days, they do not receive the DAC message. When they visit gas agencies, they are often told that the server is down, forcing them to return without any solution.
Gas agency operators say the problem is mainly due to server issues or mobile network errors. In some cases, incorrect or outdated mobile numbers also cause delays. They added that manual booking is still available, but the system needs improvement to avoid inconvenience to consumers.
According to the latest data shared by the Dehradun district administration, a total stock of 25,861 domestic LPG cylinders and 4,313 commercial LPG cylinders is currently available.
