Govt committed to road safety & environment: CM

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasised that the government is making efforts towards improving road safety and promoting environmental conservation. He was speaking at the Road Safety and Green Earth Marathon 2026 organised by the Transport department under the aegis of the Regional Transport Office (RTO) Dehradun to mark the conclusion of National Road Safety Month on Tuesday. Dhami flagged off a five-kilometre run and administered an oath to all participants, urging them to adhere to road safety rules and promote environmental protection.

Addressing the gathering, the CM said that following traffic rules and protecting the environment is the duty of every citizen. He encouraged the youth to become “flag bearers of road safety” and to work as “road safety friends” to spread awareness about traffic regulations in their communities. He also called upon citizens to collectively engage in environmental protection, cleanliness and pollution reduction.

Dehradun division Regional Transport Officer (Enforcement and Road Safety) Anita Chamola said that about 800 participants took part in the run. She claimed the road safety campaign jachieved positive results with about 12 per cent reduction in road accidents recorded in the Dehradun district. Additional Transport commissioner Sanat Kumar Singh, joint commissioner Rajeev Mehra, deputy commissioners Sunil Sharma and Shailesh Tiwari, among others attended the event.
