PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun

The Dehradun district magistrate Savin Bansal said that the beautification work at Sai Mandir junction, Kuthal Gate and Dilaram Chowk in Dehradun in the traditional hill style, along with the Clock Tower is nearing completion. The project includes road widening, construction of additional slip roads and installation of roundabouts to improve traffic flow and public safety. Two additional 10-metre-wide motorable slip roads have been built at Kuthal Gate and Sai Mandir to ease congestion, he said. Bansal along with Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh conducted an inspection of these sites on Tuesday. Bansal informed that the district administration has spent Rs 10 crore on the project, which also covers maintenance for three years. The junctions are being developed to display the cultural heritage of Garhwal and Kumaon, with statues of notable figures and artwork depicting the state’s traditions, Bansal said. During an inspection of the sites, he directed officials to install spring posts at Kuthal Gate and complete remaining tasks within a week. The DM stated that the project aims to integrate traffic management with cultural presentation for residents and visitors. The administration is also incorporating public infrastructure improvements with elements reflecting local traditions and historical significance, he added.
