The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) on Tuesday issued 135 challans during a joint enforcement drive targeting illegal waste dumping, unauthorised dairy operations and encroachments along the Rispana river belt. Additional municipal commissioner Praveen Kumar stated that the teams from the Health and Land sections carried out inspections in areas including Balbir Road, Nai Basti, Badrish Colony and Rajivnagar. Door-to-door checks were conducted, user charges were collected and action was initiated against violators.

The officials found several residents in slum settlements along the Rispana dumping domestic garbage directly into the river instead of handing it over to authorised collection vehicles. Families were warned and directed to ensure waste is given only to door-to-door collection teams and that monthly user charges are also paid.

The team also detected illegal dairy operations dumping cow dung and waste into the river. Challans of Rs 1,500 each were issued under the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016 against identified operators, including two residents of Balbir Road.

The Health Department issued 87 challans for littering, recovering Rs 37,200. The encroachment team issued 48 challans amounting to Rs 28,900 and seized 48 banners, four plastic sheets and 10 crates during the drive.

Officials said that the enforcement will continue against construction and demolition waste dumping on main roads, illegal hoardings and encroachments on public land. The corporation has urged residents to dispose of construction debris at designated sites and cooperate in maintaining cleanliness across the city.
