BIS celebrates Standards Festival in Haridwar

To commemorate World Standards Day 2025, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Dehradun branch organised a Standards Festival in Haridwar. A number of senior government officers, public representatives, representatives from industries, jewellers and school students participated in the event.
While the Rajya Sabha MPs- Naresh Bansal and Kalpana Saini- were the chief guests the special guests included the superintendent of police (Crime) Haridwar, Jitendra Mehra and BHEL chief, Ranjan Kumar.
The director and head of the BIS Dehradun branch, Saurabh Tiwari stated that the theme of World Standards Day 2025 is Sustainable Development Goals (SDG-17) – Collective Partnerships in Achieving the Goals, adding that BIS is engaging stakeholders through various programmes to raise awareness about the importance of standards.
In his address, Bansal said that every product must be manufactured in accordance with standards. “Only then will industries be able to gain consumer trust and remain competitive in the long run,” he added.
In her address, Saini said that BIS has been playing a vital role in providing quality products to consumers. She appealed to everyone to look for the BIS standard mark when purchasing goods and contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
Speaking at the event, the BHEL chief said that the BIS logo is a symbol of trust. He urged industries to join BIS. “Even those which are not in the mandatory category should join BIS to make their products globally competitive,” he added.
The organisers of the event said that
the Standards Festival had apprised all the participants about the work of BIS, the importance of standards and collective efforts towards the Sustainable Development Goals.
