Recent revamp of the Bharatiya Janata Party organisation in Uttarakhand has clearly shown that the party has placed its bet on youth and women of the State considering the 2027 Vidhan Sabha elections. The party is taking all major decisions to hit a hat-trick in the ensuing Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha election.
BJP took this step considering how important young and women voters turned out to be in the 2022 Vidhan Sabha elections and the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Most of the selected position holders this year are aged between 40 to 50 years and only Kedarnath MLA, Asha Nautiyal, has been selected as State vice president. The party has largely kept MLAs away from organisational duties to ensure that they can focus on their constituencies ahead of the upcoming polls.
The party announced a 42-member executive team under the leadership of State president Mahendra Bhatt on Sunday. The team includes eight vice presidents, three general secretaries, eight secretaries and one treasurer. Deepti Rawat has been appointed as the first woman general secretary of the BJP in Uttarakhand. The party has also appointed Ruchi Chauhan from Rishikesh as the State president of BJP Mahila Morcha.
Talking about the change in the organisation, Bhatt stated that BJP has always been a party that gave platforms to youths and women to work and grow without any discrimination. He said that the new members have the responsibility to align the organisation with the government’s priorities and ensure better coordination. The party expects the new members to increase the party’s reach in the State, he added.
