Chief Secretary directs weeding out of old files in State secretariat

Chief secretary Anand Bardhan has directed that the process of weeding out old and useless files should be completed within a month in the State secretariat. He gave the order during an inspection of the State secretariat on Monday.
Taking cognisance of the huge pile of the old files in different sections of the secretariat, the CS said that the rules of the file weeding process should be recirculated and all the process should be completed as soon as possible.
He directed the secretary, Secretariat Administration, to identify a suitable location for a record room. The CS said that an appropriate record room should be set up where the essential files after the end of weeding of the files, can be systematically stored.
In his visit, the CS also expressed concern over the fact that in some sections multiple units are operating from a single room. He instructed that arrangements for portable cabins should be made for some sections of the secretariat.
Bardan also directed that the inspection roster for sections within the secretariat premises should be recirculated. He emphasised that officers must mandatorily inspect their respective sections within the stipulated time frame.
The CS also inspected the sanitation condition in the premises. He also instructed that the availability of basic amenities in all buildings within the Secretariat premises should be ensured.
Secretary of Secretariat Administration Deependra Kumar Chaudhary accompanied the CS during the inspection.
