CM Dhami visits Dharali, takes stock of rescue operations

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the disaster-affected Dharali area of Uttarkashi district on Wednesday and took stock of the relief and rescue operations. He met the disaster affected families and assured every possible help to them. The CM also interacted with the members of the rescue teams and boosted their morale.

He directed the officers that the relief material should reach the affected families in time. The CM said that two helicopters have been pressed into service to transport food and relief materials to the affected areas.

The CM said that the priority of the State government is to restore normalcy and ensure that relief is provided to every person affected by the disaster.

 Meanwhile on the demand of the State government the Centre sent two Chinook and two MI -17 helicopters to the State. The Chinook helicopter is being used to transport heavy machinery to restore road transport. A total of 125 personnel of Army, 83 of Indo Tibetan Border Police are engaged in rescue operations. Six officers and 100 labourers of Border Roads Organisation (BRO) are engaged in restoring traffic by repairing damaged roads. 

The administration has set up relief camps at Government Inter College Harsil, GMVN and Jhala. Efforts are being made to restore the telecommunication network in the disaster affected area. National Institute of Mountaineering (NIM) and SDRF are engaged in construction of a temporary bridge on the Limchagad rivulet.

The State Health department has sent a team of specialist doctors to the affected areas and reserved beds in Government Doon Medical College (GDMC), Coronation district hospital Dehradun and All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh.
