The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) organised a cleanliness pledge under the nationwide Swachhata Hi Seva campaign on Thursday.

The event, based on the theme “One Day One Hour Together” took place at the corporation’s premises, where municipal commissioner Namami Bansal administered the pledge to officers, employees, supervisors and sanitation workers. She said that this initiative aimed to inspire a collective effort towards cleanliness, emphasising that even small, combined actions can contribute to larger, long-term change.

She informed that the campaign extended beyond the municipal office, with similar pledge-taking ceremonies organised at schools, public spaces, zonal offices, parking areas and vending zones throughout the city. After the pledge, the corporation led a voluntary cleanliness drive, which saw participation from students, local residents, volunteer groups and municipal staff.

Bansal said that such efforts show the importance of community involvement in keeping the environment clean. She encouraged all residents to make cleanliness a part of their daily routines, urging them to contribute to the larger goal of maintaining a clean and healthy Dehradun. This initiative serves as a reminder that collective responsibility is key in maintaining the well-being of any city, fostering a sense of pride and community spirit among the citizens, she said.
