Protesting members of the Uttarakhand Berozgar Sangh (UBS) have rejected the State government’s offer to conduct a Special Investigation Team (SIT) inquiry, led by a retired high court judge, into the complaints regarding the UKSSSC paper leak case. The members of the UBS have been protesting since Monday at Parade Ground, demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the paper leak. Their protests continue through Thursday.
Earlier, the patron of the UBS and president of the Uttarakhand Swabhiman Morcha (USM), Bobby Panwar, stated that the protests will continue until the government provides an assurance letter and meets their demands. Among their key demands are a CBI investigation into the paper leak case and the re-conducting of the examination.
Panwar said that if these demands are not met within the next couple of days, they plan to escalate their protest. Panwar also questioned the arrest of an assistant professor, whom the police have accused of receiving a leaked question paper. He said that the professor had actually exposed the leak and argued that it is unjust to blame and punish her, given her intentions to inform society about the exam irregularities.
Commenting on the continuation of the protest, USM general secretary Mohit Dimri said that their protests would continue until the State government addresses their demands. He reiterated the call for the re-conducting of the examination and the reversal of any unjust actions against individuals, including the mentioned female assistant professor. Dimri also emphasised that they rejected the State government’s decision to form SIT under a retired Uttarakhand high court judge, asserting that a CBI investigation would be far more effective in this matter.
