Police book individuals of minority community for insensitive posts on Dharali disaster

Dehradun police have taken action against individuals from the minority community for allegedly making insensitive posts and comments regarding the flash flood disaster in Dharali, Uttarkashi.

According to the officials, a person named Ali Soharab uploaded before and after images of the incident on his Facebook account, accompanied by objectionable comments. These posts were followed by comments from others, including Danish Malik, Ahmed Ansari and other individuals, which hurt the religious sentiments of local residents and attempted to incite communal tension.

Taking cognisance of the matter, the Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh instructed immediate legal action against offenders. Based on a complaint filed by sub-inspector Vicky Tamta, the police registered an FIR against Ali Soharab, Danish Malik, Ahmed Ansari and others under sections 299 and 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The officials said that police will take strict action against such offenders.
