13.2 kg tumour removed from abdomen of 20-year-old female

 The doctors of the Mahant Indiresh hospital here have claimed to successfully remove a massive 13.2 kilogramme tumour from the abdomen of a 20-year-old woman.

Senior surgeon of the hospital Dr JP Sharma led the team of doctors which accomplished the complex surgery which lasted for about four hours.

“The patient had no prior knowledge of the tumour and was living a normal life. She was brought to the hospital by her family after suddenly experiencing severe abdominal pain. Upon initial examination it was found that she has an abnormally large tumor in her abdomen, which had begun to exert pressure on several vital organs. In medical science, this condition is referred to as an Ovarian Large Tumour. The patient’s family was advised for a surgery, as the tumour could rupture at any time. After a four hour long surgery, the medical team successfully removed the gigantic tumour from her abdomen,’’ said Dr Sharma.

The team included Dr Puneet Tyagi, Dr Dipankar Nayal, Dr Pushkin Pokhriyal and Dr Neha.

The chairman of the hospital Mahant Devendra Dass has congratulated the doctors of the department of Surgery for the achievement.
