Doon Disaster: Work on to prepare Valley Bridge on Mussoorie road, says Maharaj

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun

The State PWD minister Satpal Maharaj said that a valley bridge was being constructed to smoothen traffic movement after the bridge near Shiv Mandir on Mussoorie-Dehradun road had been damaged in the overnight rain that lashed Dehradun. Instructions have been given to the PWD and NHAI officials to immediately repair the main roads blocked by rain and restore traffic, he said and added that normal traffic movement on Chakrata Road had been restored after the swollen Tons river had damaged the bridge near Premnagar (Nanda ki Chowki).

Maharaj further informed that about 70-100 meters of the road going from Raipur Chowk to Maldevta, beyond Kesarwala, had been washed away due to the flood of Song river and added that restoration works were on.  “Similarly, Dehradun-Haridwar National Highway near Lal Tappar has been washed away.
Further, as a part of the bridge near Jakhan was damaged, traffic has been diverted to alternative routes from Bhaniyawala and Nepali Farm. The work of repairing the damaged part of the bridge will start immediately after the water level recedes,” he informed.
