The Congress activists led by the district president, Pradeep Singh Rawat visited the under-construction Gyansu-Sald-Uparikot motorway in Varuna Valley on Tuesday and raised serious questions about the quality of the construction costing about Rs 17 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). They demanded a high-level investigation, alleging negligence.
During the visit, the Congress delegation interacted with local villagers and listened to their problems. The villagers reported that road construction standards were being ignored at many locations, raising concerns about the road’s strength and future utility.
The district Congress president Pradeep Singh Rawat stated that nearly a dozen villages, located just seven to 14 km from the district headquarters, still lack mobile connectivity. “Mobile towers installed in the area are merely for show and are not operational, causing villagers to face severe communication difficulties,” he alleged.
The Congress leaders said that the party will continuously monitor issues related to public interest and will hold the administration accountable for the basic problems of the area.
