According to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) sources, the first de-boosting manoeuvre to reduce the velocity of the spacecraft Chandrayaan-3 has been successfully conducted, reducing the Vikram Lander’s orbit to 113 km x 157 km. The next de-boosting operation will be carried out around 0200 IST on August 20 following which the distance of the Lander from the Moon would be 30 km (minimum) and 100 km (maximum). Then, the ISRO scientists would attempt to soft-land it on the surface of the moon between 5:30pm and 6pm on August 23. Notably, the Lander Module of Chandrayaan-3 was successfully separated from the propulsion module on August 17. ISRO then released close-up photos of the Moon.
