Former chief justice Sushila Karki takes oath as first woman PM of Nepal

The former chief justice of Nepal Sushila Karki took oath as interim Prime Minister. Karki took oath at the office of the President of Nepal with the President Ramchandra Paudel having administered the oath of office of secrecy. As per the Nepal government sources, as the head of the caretaker government, Karki, 73, has been mandated to hold elections within six months.

The Nepal watchers say that she might recommend dissolution of the Parliament to the President.  In the interim period, she is likely to govern with the help of a small cabinet.  Earlier, various stakeholders had zeroed in on Karki’s name following marathon discussions.
