Four more accused arrested in Jitendra Kumar suicide case

Police arrested four more Dehradun residents on charges of pushing Pauri resident Jitendra Kumar (32) into committing suicide. The police had arrested the main accused, former BJP leader Himanshu Chamoli on August 22.
The Pauri senior superintendent of police Lokeshwar Singh said that following further investigation and evidence collection after Chauhan’s arrest, four others were taken into custody. They have been identified as Shubham Khanduri (29) and Gaurav Kamboj, both residents of Doiwala, Vikas Shah (41), resident of Haridwar Road and Abhishek Gairola (25), resident of Ranipokhari.
Singh stated that the four accused were to be produced before the court for legal proceedings on Monday after which further action would be taken. The SSP said that the investigation is ongoing and action will be taken against anyone found directly or indirectly involved in the case. It is pertinent to mention here that the victim Kumar allegedly committed suicide on August 21.
Before the act, he recorded and uploaded a video on social media, in which he accused Chamoli of embezzling Rs 35 lakh in a land deal. He had stated in the video that mental harassment due to the financial dispute pushed him to take the step. During investigation, the police also found some pre-recorded videos on his mobile phone about his problems and suicide. He had reportedly talked about how Chamoli and others had scammed him.
The police also found some evidence on the phone regarding the land deal and payments done by Kumar to Chamoli. The SSP said that the investigation is ongoing and further action will be taken against culprits accordingly.
