RTO raids illegal car rental, warns of continued action

The Regional Transport Office (RTO) conducted a raid on an illegal car rental establishment in Dehradun on the weekend after receiving complaints. RTO officials stated that actions against illegal rental establishments will continue.
According to the officials, following instructions from the Regional Transport Officer (Enforcement and Road Safety) Dehradun Division, Anita Chamola, an illegal car rental establishment was checked by Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Pankaj Srivastava in Dehradun. The office had received a complaint regarding this establishment. During the raid at Baba Car Rental, located on the street opposite Muskan Hotel near ISBT, the team seized documents related to private vehicles being leased on contract, keys to three vehicles and other relevant documents for further action. Attendants at Baba Car Rental were unable to provide information regarding car rental permits or other legal licenses, according to the officials. As a result, they were summoned to the office for further investigation, where they were asked to present their side of the story and produce the necessary licenses.
RTO seizes seven vehicles for serious irregularities
DEHRADUN: In compliance with the directives of the Uttarakhand High Court, the Regional Transport Office (RTO) seized seven vehicles for various vioations during a special enforcement drive in Dehradun on Sunday. According to officials, during the inspection, several vehicles were found to be violating various rules, including one that was being operated as a stage carriage. The vehicles in question lacked valid pollution certificates and insurance and their seating configurations had been altered in violation of registration conditions. In many instances, there was no conductor appointed and tickets were not being issued to passengers. A total of seven vehicles were seized and challans were issued in accordance with regulations, they added.
Officials also reported that during the operation, a driver caused a disturbance and separate legal action is being taken against him under the relevant regulations. The department’s priority remains ensuring passenger safety and enforcing the law.
